Genome analysis of Phytophthora cactorum strains associated with crown- and leather-rot in strawberry

چکیده

Phytophthora cactorum has two distinct pathotypes that cause crown rot and leather in strawberry ( Fragaria × ananassa ). Strains of the pathotype can infect both rhizome (crown) fruit tissues, while strains only fruits strawberry. The genome a highly virulent strain, low three were sequenced using PacBio high fidelity (HiFi) long read sequencing. reads de novo assembled to 66.4–67.6 megabases genomes 178–204 contigs, with N50 values ranging from 892 1,036 kilobases. total number predicted complete genes five P. ranged 17,286 17,398. Orthology analysis identified core secretome 8,238 genes. Comparative genomic revealed differences composition potential virulence effectors, such as putative RxLR Crinklers, between pathotypes. Insertions, deletions, amino acid substitutions detected encoding elicitors beta elicitin cellulose-binding domain proteins compared suggesting mechanism for strain escape host recognition during compatible interaction results presented here highlight several effectors may facilitate tissue-specific colonization

Meristem culture for the elimination of the strawberry crown rot pathogen Phytophthora cactorum

Two methods to induce a symptomless infection of crown rot (Phytophthora cactorum) in stolons of three strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa) cultivars were evaluated. Spraying a 10−4 ml zoospore suspension was the most effective method, producing a mean infection rate of 12%. Meristem cultures were subsequently established from all of the inoculated stolons and tested eight weeks later for the presenc...

Efficacy of Azoxystrobin, Pyraclostrobin, Potassium Phosphite, and Mefenoxam for Control of Strawberry Leather Rot Caused by Phytophthora cactorum

Efficacy of azoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin, mefenoxam, and potassium phosphite for control of strawberry leather rot, caused by Phytophthora cactorum, was evaluated on a commercial farm. Foliar sprays of azoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin, and potassium phosphite were applied weekly from bloom through harvest and mefenoxam was applied twice as a soil drench at early plant growth and at fruit set. All f...

نقش Phytophthora cactorum در پژمردگی و زوال توت فرنگی در کشت هیدروپونیک و بررسی واکنش ارقام مختلف توت فرنگی به آن

Phytophtora crown- and root- rot is one of the important soil-borne diseases of strawberry grown in hydroponic culture. Plant roots affected by root and crown rot show yellowish and decline symptoms and the plant perishes and dies gradually. To identify the factor responsible for strawberry crown rot, some samples were taken from infected plants. The samples were washed with tap water for 1-2 h...

Fungicide Efficacy in Prevention of Root Rot Incited by Phytophthora cactorum and Phytophthora drechsleri in Fraser Fir Seedlings

The most serious disease problem in fraser fir (Abies fraseri) Christmas tree production is phytophthora root rot (PRR). The efficacies of six fungicide treatments in preventing PRR incited by Phytophthora cactorum and P. drechsleri in 2-year-old fraser fir seedlings were evaluated in 2010 and 2011 in central Pennsylvania. The study examined five fungicide drench treatments [dimethomorph, foset...
